Evening of inspiration 2007
Evening of inspiration-2007
Bradford tour
Asalaamu alaikum.

I thought I'd share my experiences of my first nasheed concert.

We arrived at the perfect time
Not too early and not too late. The line was not that long when we got there. We stood outside for an hour and a half. (It went fast) throughout that time i was looking at a certain window because I was sure I saw zain bhikha (or dawud) looking. The curtains twitched a few times but i didn't see the person looking again.

When we went inside we sat near the front. (8th row) Mr Penny from Islamic relief came with his big coin head and sat in front of me.

He turned and i took a picture of him. I showed the picture to him but then all of a sudden he pocketed my phone and ran to the stage. (Don't worry he gave me it back)

There were kids behind us playing with balloons. Next thing i know a balloon popped and my oldest bro (21 this month) got scared and screamed like a girl.

The sisters and brothers around us laughed their heads off.
Soon the show started. A Scottish Pakistani Muslim hosted it. VERY FUNNY. HAMZA ROBERTSON was soon spotted poking his head round the door looking very scared. He came on stage and sang a few nasheeds. I recorded him on my phone for about 30 seconds.

Soon IMAD RAMI (i remembered his name!!!) came on stage. The crowd got involved by clapping. Recorded him singing ya tayibah.

Now was the best to come.... ZAIN BHIKHA and DAWUD WHANSBY (bouncing uncle)!!!! Yay!! I recorded them singing wonderful world. Had fun miming to it. Soon the very young at heart were singing child's prayer (my fav nasheed ever) while I was recording I realised there was movement by the door. It was RASHID BHIKHA. Out he came rapping. Sisters screamed (i hate it when they do that especially as they had been told off for doing it before)

Soon they did can't take it with you. Phone out again i recorded it. Bro Dawud made me laugh the most with his acting...

Last nasheed came and it was rhythm of the drum. Before it started another balloon popped behind my oldest brother and again he screamed but not as loud as he had before. I'm sure whoever was at the door leading backstage was laughing. Rashid came out with a drum (i think it was The Snare Drum)

Soon the break came for magrib. That's when me and my family left. We had left my elderly grandma at home (nasheeds aren't really her thing) so we had to get back before it go dark.

I had a great time!!!!

Inshallah i want to go next year but i don't think I'll be able to. I'll find a way even if that means twisting my brothers around my little finger.

It helps being the youngest in the family and the only girl.

Hehe
Peace be to you,
Razia, 14 Bradford

P.S. if any of you were there then please let me know what happened after the break
